mario kart wii online gaming

hi guys, have just encountered my 1st problem with m k wii, been trying to connect to a friend to play against online for about 4 hrs, tried everything from rebooting router, rebooting wii, and trying to play other online games, call of duty(mw) which i could play. eventually got to play a worldwide game, then during lap 1, was disconnected from other players. have spoken to friends, and they can connect to wfc and race okay....
anybody any ideas, or info as to what caould be wrong?? or anybody else having, or had any similar issues..?

could be a nintendo server problem,try going online another day,you might have more success.

tried again this morning, and tonight, and guess what, still no joy... not a happy bunny, cos i wanna play all mi friends online, all 2 of them

my mario kart plays fine online after i changed the router to channel 1 instead of the default 11.

worth a try i suppose.

will give that a bash delboy, all suggestions are welcome, except buying the orig. have spoken to others trying to get online too, and they are having the same/similar problems, perhaps ck-ok has hit the nail on the head with the server problem, hope ninnytendo get it sorted soon, theres a chick i really wanna play with

The only Option I see is Simple ... Take Your Wii round Your
Neighbours and see If It works then ... If It does then VillaBoy
was right about the Router ... Your router is'nt configured for
sure OR You moved Your Wii somewhere You should'nt and Your reception
is Crap ... But If You still have the Same Problem at Your
Neighbours ... Then You can point at the Wii ... Before You do
anything though ... What version of Menu You running? and did
You ever do a Nand backup?

try going into your router setting and changing channel to 1 or 6 or 11

yo stopmotion, am running ver 4.2e on wii, i think wii may have updated when i downloaded bbc iplayer, which i have now deleted from system. just had success, for 2 to 3 worldwide rounds. but now been disconnected, and just says searchung for players again, . and tried changng channel on router, and changing security setting from wpa psk to open.

another thing to try is put your wii ip address in the dmz list in your router settings,this will allow your wii to bypass the NAT firewall in your router.

right guys, hav come to the conclusion that, after updating the wii system to 4.2e, i can now only play online games succesfully if they are the original discs. have just been playing cod modern war online for the best part of an hour, but tried to play fifa09 (back up disc) against net opponent, and it disconnected me after 20 secs of play. so looks like i will be off to the shops for mario kart after all, if i wanna play online..... thanks for all suggestions folks

my mario kart and modern warfare play fine online and they are backup discs. Try turning your router firewall off and see if it is that dropping your connection.

update guys, still no joy with m k. can actually get online and play against downloaded ghost data, but trying to actually race against another player online, it just stays on 'searching for players'. fifa09 is similar, can get online and find someone to play against, but just as kick off is about to begin, it disconnects me. now, have tried the orig m k game disc from mi mate, and it does the same thing.

now to answer some of the replies and suggestions.

tried the router settings, changing the channel etc, even disabling the macc address filter, and opening the router up so there was no need for a wep key etc, and still the same. as for cheating online, i cant even find the shortcuts on the grand prix games, never mind cheat...

a question for anybody to answer, can the wii system be downgraded to 4.1, and does anyone know how to do it??

i only asked if you have cheated online,as there have been reports of people being barred from playing mario k***s online if they have used cheats,and downgrading system menus is very risky and is one of the major causes of bricked wiis,be careful.
