used a sandisk 2gb but will get a verbatim ordered. Will post the result here in a few days.

The other thing is the version of HBC that gets installed is 1.0.5. When starting up it recommends upgrading to 1.0.6.

    Should I do this?
dont update it until you have finished modding

        Black Wii

Does this mean you can play the downloaded games on the black wii after softmodding it? I have a white one that is softmodded just wondered about the new black one if it is still possible.

Durke, I have made a small amount of progress!

            1. Ignore the update for now.

            2. Goto http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...w-guide-67927/

            3. Download a file called complete 4_2.zip from the mediafire link

            4. Extract that to your sd card

            5. Follow the steps in the guide. In step 7 it won't find the files since they were deleted already when u were using part 2 of the tutorial that came from this thread. In step 8/9 you may have to install the 7 files individually. My wii wouldn't select all to mass install.

            6. When you exit back to main wii menu, you will now see a new channel called uloader.

            7. Put sports resort disc in and ignore update again. Launch uloader (the sd card will have to be in slot) and it should say cannot find usb storage. Press 2 on wiimote to spin dvd and then click load game. Sports resort is now working!!
Also, I attached a hard drive and it said 'WARNING no WBFS partition found' It invited me to format the drive, which I didn't as I need some stuff on it. However, I now think the system is up and running WHOOOOOPEEEE!

            8. Goto wii menu with sports resort in and now do the update. (I have deleted internet connections first). The update is successful, and I still have homebrew and uloader working.

            9. Format the sd card as FAT32. Using the original files from the start of this thread, you need to put part 2 back on the card. Now, using the home key on HBC and selecting 'launch Bootmii' it actually does something!! Unfortunately it opens some wad installer that we don't need to bother with.

HOW TO OPEN THIS DAMN BOOTMII AND GET A MENU TO MAKE NAND BACKUP I DO NOT KNOW! HEEEELLLLLLPPPP!

For those of you having trouble with BootMii, I think this might help. I experienced this when softmodding my black Wii recently and it took me a few attempts to suss out what was happening...

When you launch BootMii, you only have a certain (quite short) amount of time to use it before the Wii resets itself. You will see a series of dots appear on the screen under the icons on the BootMii screen and then the Wii resets.

                So, to stop the reset:

As soon as you see the BootMii screen press the power button. This serves to toggle the 'cursor' to highlight an icon and "stop the dots" and the Wii doesn't reset. Then you can use the buttons on the front of the Wii to navigate to the appropriate BootMii icon and create your nand backup at your leisure.

Please let us know if this solves your problem because, if it does, it will probably help a lot of people in the future.

                  ck-ok you are a star!

I reinstalled HBC and then Bootmii. Managed to get into Bootmii menu and created a NAND backup. PHEW!

Used the following http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...loader-109168/ and installed priiloader via HBC. Checked Priiloader is working and as a bonus its menu is working using the wiimote!

Think I'm all set now. Just need a blank HDD to format into the right mode and uloader should initialise all the games.

One last qus: Does the SD card always have to be present with the relevent file for uloader? Is there a way round this?

                  Thanks

I couldn't ever get to a BootMii menu. It must have been a bad install. Reinstalled now and all working great.
                    Thanks anyway

Tip.. Do part 1 of the installation. Then check that you can get into Bootmii from the Homebrew channel. If so, do the NAND backup.
If the wii hangs or drive flashes when trying bootmii then go back to step 1 and re-install Bootmii. When doing this click 'prepare SD card' in the first place as it will put files on the card then do the install.

You will feel much safer once the nand is backed up!

a nand backup is no good to you if you dont have preloader installed to load your nand back to your wii.
while im here modding a black wii is exactly the same as a white wii the only difference is that all black wii's cant play dvd-r backups and need a usb drive or hdd to play them, were as only very new white wii's cant play dvd-r backups due to the d2-3 chip on the dvd drive so you may as well use the http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...w-guide-67927/ its much more uptodate
