    Illegal Online Gaming

My friend was talking about that the companies for Xbox360, Playstation3, Wii, are doing "checks" on every console that is connected to the internet and playing a Hacked Game Online, and they ban those people that are playing an downloaded hacked game at that moment from playing online on that console permanently.

I can confirm this because he has been banned on his Xbox 360, but can I get some more information on this? Like all the info you got. But ill pop up some questions here but please, if you have more info about this, please tell.

*Do someone know when they do these checks?

*Do you haft to play a hacked game online atm they are checking to banned? Or is it enough to just be connected to the internet.
(Because my friend also said, all the online gaming you do is registered. So if you have played illigal games online, they will know. But only if you are online or something like that)

*Is there a hack that can prevent this?

So bottom line: How much of this is true and false?

microsoft seem to do checks which result in a ban whenever they launch a major game, the last being modern warfare 2 last year which resulted in hundreds of thousands of boxes being bannes from xbox live. up until then copied games were supposed to be stealth patched to hide them from prying microsoft eyes but it now seems they can detect the firmware in the dvd drives which bypasses the copyright protection. for now most folks running copied games are staying offline.
