bought a wii today and it got 4.0e software on it i want to softmod this so i can play back up games from disk what should i do to softmod this.

chances are you wont be able to play dvd back ups due to the new chip.
type your serial number in google and search to see if you have one of those chips or look here Nintendo-Scene Wii Serial Tracker if you want to mod it i would update to 4.2 then follow this http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...w-guide-67927/

after hacking the wii i am unable to play back up games via uloader.i get error message "dvd error -2" plz help

what drive chip do you have?
As ck-ok said the newer drives are unable to play DVDr and HDD is the only way to go.....
