Upgrade 2.1 help

Hi, My bro has just purchased a Wii with firmware 2.1 on. How can he install the homebrew channel or upgrade without going to 4.3 as he wishes to use usbloader like myself? Also he has no games to use as they are obviously on a hdd,.

Any help would be greatfull,

Hi again, tried this but when he puts the sd card in he says the wii just freezes up. any ideas how to resolve?
