Was soft 3.2, did safe update to 4.2...what now

I have been running my 2008 wii on the original softmod 3.2 (zelda) homebrew and starfall ect and not touched it since then, so today I get bored and after some reading do the safe 4.2 update from here and all goes well

My question is where do I go from here?, I don't know what else to update, for example to play newer games with what loaders.....

1 big question if I did an official update via wireless what firmware would that put me on, as I am thinking of starting afresh using a new tutorial.....any reccomended...or am I going ott?.
