    Wii banner bricked

Hi, I installed a wii channel for a game, Have done it many times now and all has been fine but this one game wad has made my wii freeze once I press A on the health and safety screen. I can use the savemii method with gamecube controller to get into the maintenance menu and it shows my wii firmware as 4.2 (euro)

What I want to know is if I buy a wii drive key that is set to autoboot can I use it to use recovery discs or wad manager auto boot cd to remove the bad wad?

I'm not sure, it was a long time ago I hacked the wii. In H/B channel I do remember at the bottom was 'Launch Bootmii'
All I have on the SD card thats in the wii is...

      <a href="ImageShack: Host and Share your Photos and Videos - wiit.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/6441/wiit.th.png" alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" border="0"/></a>

I don't have any large folders that could be a NAND backup, The halo light around the drive doesn't flash twice when I turn the wii on either.

Turn on your wii and hold the reset button as you do, to see if you have prii / preloader.

Nope its exactly the same. I'm currently trying to find somewhere in the UK that sells the drivekey mod and comes pre-set to autoboot...

Yup, It wasn't in the guide I used to hack the wii so no backup created I've just tried to load twilight princess from the recovery menu, GC controller savemii works fine but when I put in any disc copied/original it just takes the 4.2e off the screen and stays black.

                      I haven't got any then

I contacted a seller of the drive key chip but they have dis-continued so he said he would pre-set a wasabi dx to autoboot before he sends me it. Hopefully that will let me boot wad manager autoboot cd and remove the bad wad.

Out of curiosity do you know if I should be able to boot any games from the maintenance menu, As when I put an original in the 4.2 goes off the screen & it just goes black.

Got my wassabi dx today, Ghost2fitter set it to autoboot before posting, Tried a few autoboot discs - wouldn't work. Then I burned just dance 2 and that worked so I knew the chip was working. Tried a few more autoboot discs ...no working, no originals would boot or anything. So I started checking the iso's with '9144-WiU1.1' and the ones that wouldn't work had an invalid size. Checked 'BootMiiDiisc' disc and it said it was OK. Burned it, tried it and it worked Now making a nand backup!
