I currently have a softmodded wii that is at 4.0 U and want to play a back up of new super mario bros so is it necessary to updae my softmod .....

fyi i have homechannel im my wii ..... which I should follow to play this game

use this http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...indows-170234/ to create all the files you need and generate a tutorial to fully softmod your wii,when the program is asking you questions it will ask if you would like to update to 4.1 put y=yes as this is one of the best firmwares to be on.
follow the tutorial from the beginning and you will be able to play nsmb by putting your (non original) in the drive and launching it with neogamma.
