    Hi all, just a quick one. Is this external hhd suitable to play backups off

      Before you spend your money mate, you can save a bundle of money by buying a standard 2.5" laptop ATA hdd of your choice, then buying an 'enclosure' which has a built in sata to usb converter, check it out.

        Thanks for the replys, its not for me its for someone else. I didn't think the Wii could handle 1tb drives?

          i dont think it matters how big the drive is.

          from what i have been told,
          the problems arise when peeps use internal drives as external usb powered drives. the internal ones need more power which the wii cant cope with....
          if you are using an external power source, then it is ok.

          i am using a 500gig seagate internel ide drive in an external case with independent p/s/u.

          works perfectly.....

            Have a look a this one m8 WD Elements External Hard Drive - 1TB at cheap prices | PC World just partition it to whatever you want for wbfs and use the rest for storing films as avi to watch through mplayer or just keep your wii games as rar format to keep the pc clear.
            TRY DROPBOX 2GB + 500mb FREE ONLINE STORAGE with public sharing and 500mb for me

                thats the one i have m8 wd elements 1TB and i can confirm it works sweet for the wii (only thing i paid ?75 bout a year ago)oh yes for games and movies havnt had a problem so far.

                      Found another one guys this one claims to be compatible as well Buy HITACHI XL-1TB DESKTOP | 1TB DESKTOP HARD DRIVE - 3.5 inch Desktop Hard Drive | Comet It's only a couple of quid cheaper but looks a bit better.
