new disk drive installed ,cant play copied games

hi i had a bit of a problem with my softmodded wii.

i have a wii thats hardwired chipped and soft modded.
the disk drive had to be replaced for a new 1.

ive plugged the drive in (obviously no hard wired chip now)
and it works on original games no problem at all.

all the softmodded channels are there too ,homebrew ,gx loader etc etc

problem is i cant get it to play my downloaded games ???

wats the best way of going about getting the copied games to work?
do i need to start a fresh???
and follow the softmod guide or is there a simplier way to do it .
i do have all the files i originaly downloaded from here on an sd card .

    any help please
    thanks

Was the drive you had fitted brand new or from an old wii, and are all your backups on disk........... The reason I ask is that from about the middle of 2009 onwards wii drives donot have the ability to read dvd r's and you can only play backups from hdd. If you redo the soft mod make sure you get all the recent files for whatever firmware your wii is on

Never had a look at drive out console but there is a code on the console that you can compare to see if compatible. If there is a similar code on the drive check that. But it only takes about 20mins to do the soft mod so I'd just grab all the latest files and redo the mod if you still can't play dvdr then it will be the drive. As for transfering games you might just have to find a m8 with a modded wii. There is a few dvd rw drives for pc that can read wii games to rip them from disk but it is only a few.

          hi thanks for the reply

i did the softmod from the start and it all seems to work fine,so i think ive been lucky with the drive .

im now trying to get my hdd back onto the wii.
as for some reason its not reconising it anymore, which will be annoying if i cant get it to communicate with each other as theres alot of games on there ,

If you are using usb loader gx as you mentioned above start usb loader with hdd switched off and when you get the black screen with text saying waiting for your slow usb device switch the power on to the hdd it should recognise the hdd. If that doesn't work load wbfs manager onto pc plug the hdd in and either extract iso onto ntfs drive or partition another drive to wbfs and clone the one with the games on it. Reformat it to wbfs the send them back, but the first method should work.......Just had another thought. I remember doing a wii that woldn't recognise a drive with gx so loaded wiiflow which recognised drive then started gx loader again and all was fine it found drive after that, never needed wiiflow again.
