Game compatability question

Ive just got a new wii for crimbo , its the black one with 4.3E , i was wandering if i softmodded it , will it be able to play cube games eg paper mario thousand year door.From what i understand ,i wont be able to boot games from disc so will that stop me playing gamecube backups.thanks in advance .

I thought not but fingers crossed for the future.If i softmod will i still be able to play cube originals , and cheers for yet another rapid responce , best forum around.
