    4.1 soft mod

I have put homebrew channel on my friends 4.1e, via modmii 4.4.4 to get homebrew channel working, but i cannot get my backups recognised from dvd on his wii. Wiiflow sees my usb hard disk and all runs well on his newly modded 4.1... but he cannot see backups on his 4.1e.

As i will be keeping my usb hdu at home my friend cannot see his backup dvd disks. Any ideas. Thanks

have you downgraded the firmware during the mod?
because if its a newish wii it may not be able to play backups from disc, type the serial number into google to find out which chip it has

Thanks I will give it a shot, from memory though its over a year old. The firmware was 4.1 i havent downgraded it. All the wads install nohing looks wrong. One other slight snag i have is it loads Bootmii first, some how I need to set it back to normal Wii boot. I thought I knew how to do it but it doesnt switch when I reboot.

Rename your bootmii folder and you should be good.

            Googled result it has GC2-D2C.

I didnt think the chip set would make a difference unless I was mod chipping it, but I am just softmodding..

Any extra thoughts would be greatly welcomed as I am getting very fustraited and I bet its something really simple.

I have since read that most Wii since 2010 have DVD chipset that wont read backups. Has that been superceeded with Modmi 4.3.4? Does not softmodding allow backups to be played on all models?????

            Thanks

            .

no modmii still makes no difference if your wii is a new one and can't play backups then the only solutions are buy a new drive or a hdd

Many thanks, I am looking then at getting an external drive for him . Would I be correct in saying that he can use WBFS Manager for Windows to install his Wii backups to his hard drive via his pc ? Thanks for your help so far. New at this :-) but learning.
