This is the one I use >>> [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Elements-Desktop-External/dp/B002E7HEVU/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1299569757&sr=1-1"]Western Digital Elements 1TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive - Black: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories[/ame]

I have 2 of them... excellent devices...

You'll need to format it FAT32 or partition the drive.

Theres a tool that will allow you to format the entire 1tb into FAT32 format...

Give us a shout if you need help pal...

I always thought the usb would be too slow at transfer speeds for games to run properly.

That's one reason I went for a 360 over a ps3, you can burn the games to good old DVDs to play... so the ps3 DOES play games ok from a usb hard drive?

They sure do I bought a 2TB external HDD and I run my games off of it. Some games, however, won't allow playback due to the FAT32 limitation of single files being no larger than 4GB. Some of the PS3 games have single files that are larger than 4GB, although very few of them can be worked around using a file splitter program to chop up the 4GB+ files. So until they have NTFS support, I just load games off of my external and internal (for the games that the external won't load, obviously).

Sweet, good to know. If I ever see one for a good price i may jump ship from the 360 scene now.

The only thing is the games are pretty big compared to the average 360 game

Oh yeah. PS3 games can be humongous! Some games I have were a mere 1.75 GB and others I've ripped were a whopping 40 GB. It just depends really. Most fighting games will be rather small (under 6 GB usually).

Anyway, I bought my 2 TB HDD from newegg.com for $84 including shipping. I'm sure they ship to the UK but I don't know if shipping would be free or not. Also, check out eBay for external HDDs. You can find some for under $100 on there
