    cinavia??

2night i had planned to watch battle LA, but it was rudely stopped, about 4mins into the film by a message by saying something like, media wont play blah blah blah, for more info visit Cinavia Consumer Information Center.

now i have read up on this message and basically it means that the new update automaticly installs this cinavia software to stop you from watching pirated films, it either wont play the media or wont play the audio.

so far the solution is to watch the movie at x1.5 speed?

has any1 else had this problem?

i am using PS3 media server to stream.

Yes, had this problem since last year, and still there is no fix for it, except to use a media player that doesnt contain cinavia protection. This protection has also started appearing on DVDs but only when played through a sony ps3 or sony blu-ray player most older DVD players dont have cinavia.
The more popular this encryption becomes the sooner a hack will be found.

If your PS3 has V3.10 or earlier there is no cinavia protection.

Hi could you not streem through your laptop/pc and connect to tv with lead ? , or you could download and play on ps3 via usb (this is what I do) it works 95% of time and when it wont play like that I burn to dvd and that playes on ps3 100% of the time. Hope this helps.
ps is there a section on this forum dedicated to this where I can upload movies or help gide people as how to go about downloading all the latest movies and music ?
Thanks and Good Luck to EVERYONE here at DK thc4me.

            ps.
1.5 x works as cinavia is a digital audio watermark, so your distorting the audio which throws it off, but who wants to watch films 1.5x ?
            showtime here.

Just been researching showtime - does that mean you have to install a linux operating system onto the ps3?

Seems like a pain in the ass! The link isnt clear mate

no... you don't have to install linux on the PS3 to use showtime.

install CFW (Custom FirmWare) eg Kmeaw, very easy to do.
                (usb memory stick required)

install showtime (which is as a pkg which will add it as if it were a downloadable content game. follow link on previous post to find download link

Showtime doesn't support cinavia which is an audio digital watermark (supported by PS3 & most Bluray players), so..it just plays.....happy days

If you have latest fw 3.60 on ps3 you are shafted basically - if you intend to install custom firmware 3.55 works better!
