My PS3 will not always work with the HDMI cable and I just get a black screen. Every so often it will work for a few seconds then go off again. I have not used it for some time but it was fine then. I have changed the cable and used a different socket on the TV.

does your hdmi port on tv need resetting to on as some have menu settings -
If cactikid's solution does not do the trick...
check the ps3's hdmi port and that nothing is broken or cracked and most importantly the HDMI CABLE itself... it may be too cheap to last.If You Like My Post

You replaced the HDMI cable? Are you trying it on 1080p resolution?? If so reset the ps3 and choose 720p resolution, see if it stablises it on 720p
