One small tip for you, avoid any game made by EA for the PS3. Most their Ps3 titles have major frame rate errors on the PS3. Read as many review of any EA games and wait till they release patches to correct their cock-ups before buying anything.

You could Install Linux on it and use it as a PC.

PS3 Lots you can do

1. It's got a Wii-busting motion-sensing controller. Kind of.
2. The PS3's controller is called SIXAXIS, and it's wireless, using Bluetooth to connect to the console. Its battery lasts for 30 hours, after which it needs recharging via its mini-USB port (but you can still play while it's connected).
3. You can hook your PSP up to PS3
4. It's got Blu-ray inside
5. The wireless gamepad's one drawback it that you can't tell how much juice is left. And you only find out when the game no longer responds to you button pressing and you die horribly. The way to ensure you have enough power to finish Grand Theft Auto (or any game) is to press and hold the PS button. An indicator will appear and will show up on screen as a small battery. A full battery means you are fully-charged up and ready to play.
6. Buy the sony remote control and use your ps3 as a fully fledged Meia center
7. upgrade your HDD
8. Load all your music and Videos on your ps3

there is lots you can do with the PS3 and teh web is full of tips and tricks.

To be classed as a fully fledged media centre, would it not need the ability to play most movie files and not just divx (and thats when it feels like it)
