Dead Ps3 Blinking Red Light of Death Fixed!

I came home from work a couple weeks ago and grabbed a beer and a slice of pizza. On my way to my favorite lazy chair, I turned on my tv and ps3 and lord behold........blink blink blink blink.

I tore the online forums up looking for an easy fix.

I went ahead and took the sucker apart and pulled the motherboard free. I used my heatgun to heat up the board all around the 2 processors for 5 five minutes. I let it cool for 20. Then I flipped it over and did the same thing to the other side.

I put it back together and it has worked perfect ever since. I stream video for hours almost every night and it hasn't even had a hiccup.

          I had the same problem.
took it appart heated only the 2 processors as seen in this video & attached video:

I believe the problem of the YLOD is only in the old models.

I read on the net that you can reball the processers, this is seen as a perminent fix.
I am not sure if this is correct as i only, like you, did the reflow methode.
I just fixed it last week so i do not know how long the fix lasts but i only got the ylod after 5 years so if the reflow will hold out just as long then I am happy.

PS: the guy in the videos is quit good, very detailed and good to follow.
          Good luck
