PS3 slim CECH 3003B powers on for 1 second then back off instantly

as per topit title buys

slim ps3 just handed to me

with power lead in the standby light illuminates red as normal
i press the button and it beeps once along with green light then instantly off and no red/green/yellow light at all
if i press button again nothing
i have to remove power for 10 seconds and reapply for it to come to standby again, then same as before when i press power button.

so read up online and some1 mentioned HDD failure !

so i pulled out the HDD
and stuck power lead back in, to my surprise the ps3 started booting up but by this time i notice a bit of smoke down the side of where the fan plugs in !!
so pulled power out rapido
oh i had the top off by this time as was gunna reflow but thought better to plug in n test before fully stripping it down..

i stripped it down even further and looked around the parts where i saw smoke cuming from
and found this...

im not sure what it is or why it would burn out like that !!
all i did was simply remove the HDD

i will remove it and see if the ps3 works like it should

or if any1 knows what the part is so i can replace it
hopefully its not something else thats causing this to burn out tho
