will not play blue ray dvds

i have a problem with my ps3, it does not play blue ray dvds but plays normal dvds perfectly, also the gaming side seems to be tempromental, this problem has only just happened can anyone help me out and point me in the right direction.

same happened to a friend of mine
issue ended up being 2 errors i forgot the name of that happened 2 weeks later.
sony say's they will replace the console for 125 pound

Same happened to my PS3 Fat as soon as i tried to play COD MW2 on release day! Game would load then crash, PS3 wouldnt see disc sometimes, then all the time.

Tried Blu-Ray discs, couldnt see them either... So i just binned it and bought a PS3 Slim, sorted.

Hi,

I just got a PS3 and it looks and works great. Too bad there are not real games yet which will pull me away from Halo3...

Using it basically as a blu ray player and dvd upscaler (which it does surprisingly well, better than my denon upscaling dvd player)

I am just wondering if anyone knows if the PS3 can read and play burned blu ray disc, ie. movies?

I know that basically no one has a blu ray burner but I can see in a year or two that they will be cheaper and more mainstream. Then I can see how pissed the movie heads will be when they figure out that blu ray isn't hack proof.
