im sure they can find a way to block you, but it may just at the moment be down to a network problem. most ps3's wont sign in today. playstation are working on fixing it.

Yeah, This is a known problem affecting most PS3 owners (Well, It doesn't seem to be affecting the "slim" model)

Sony are recommending PS3 owners do not login to PSN today (until they give the green light).

It can cause trophy and other user data to be corrupted.

They are working on a fix, more details can be found here.
