are playstation 3 games region locked or can you play games bought outside of europe on a ps3 bought inside europe

True, games will play on any machine but movies are coded into three regions, a-japan and america b-europe c- asia. or something like that.

i am a new owner of a ps3...
i need some help here..

on the box, it has "A", "3" icon printed on it.
So i would like to buy some bluray movies online, does it mean i can only buy region A or 3 blurays??
or it doesnt mean anything?

*also, there is no such thing as pirated bluray disc,rite?I am afraid of buying a counterfeit item which is being sold as original.
