blueray drive replacment

Hello i havent got much experience with ps3's so hoping someone could help me.

I am looking at replaceing a blue ray drive for a ps3 i was wondering are there different models or versions?

If there are different models how do i find out which one i have to make sure i am replacing with the right one?

Hi,
you must disassemble your PS3 to read on the drive the model number.
Just for info: Most of the 60GB and 40GB versions have KEM/KES 400 drives. Others are most KEM/KES 410 Drives. They are not interchangeable! So be sure to buy the right one. Best way to change the drive is to buy a whole drivecaddy incl. BR Lens.

hi thansk for that i have taken the blue ray drive out but i cant find any model numbers al i see is a barcode but it does not correspond to any of the models you have stated above!!!

There is a serial number on the outside of the case. SE or SH it should start, I think. Mine is the 400 model and also needs a new laser.

eBay for replacement lasers - I did mine a few months ago.

the only marking on my blu ray drive is a barcode which is as follows

a300108884

there are no other markings anywhere on the drive but i cant find any replacments for that code any ideas

Hi Bro,
you must disassemble the whole Drive until U have the metal laser carridge where U will find the ID number of the drive and the BR laser type.
For further tips try Youtube and search for PS3 laser change.
Hope U got it now.
