    Steps to play 'backup games' on 3.41 PS3?

    Am I right in thinking that I do the following...

    Install a massive HDD internally in to my ps3 FAT running 3.41

    Purchase a USB jailbreak stick...

    Insert stick , follow steps and jailbreak...

    Transfer over backup games from PC- PS3 via FTP server to internal HDD...

    PLAY

    Is that the basics? Or am I missing something?

    Is there any way to get the game on to the internal HDD FASTER than FTP??

    In a word "no",use an external drive for all games with files under 4gb(fat 32 format)
    But games like God of War have to be ftp'd to internal drive to work as the games are huge(45GB) and not fat32 compatible.
    Just gotta be patient,start ftp and walk away from it for a few hours...or rent the game and rip to internal but thats time consuming aswell.Small price to pay for what can be now done with ps3 imo.

      No probs mate. Im happy to leave my ps3 on for hours if it means getting a game on to it via FTP so not a problem for me!

      I installed a 640gb HDD last night so that's sitting in my ps3 'gagging' to get some games on to it!

        * You DONT need an internal hard disk for these boot methods to work (USB dongles, smartphone apps etc) - you can run the games from an External Hard drive but you MUST have an original Disk in the blueray drive

        * You can upgrade from any size internal Sony drive & replace with a SATA 2.5" Drive. There are ones on EBAY up to 640GB which should work fine. There hasnt been any reports of overheating?
        * before you install a new drive, you must back up old one to external USB, then restore onto the new one
        * https://spreadsheets.google.com/lv?k...hsHl_KH0KiEC3w for games compatibility
        * [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNSytaL9hnI]YouTube - How to Upgrade a PS3 Hard Drive[/ame] - How to upgrade your HDD
        * You MUST be running 3.41 firmware. Above 3.41 you are goosed....also keep in mind that your downloaded games must be JB(jailbreak) rips,iso's wont work.

          Ive gone for the 640gb internal. Just think it looks 'tidier' and woman friendly!

            A new version of Backup Manager was released a few days ago which doesn't need an original disc in the drive. It's still pretty buggy though and a few games are no longer loading on it, but I'm sure it'll become more stable.

                        I jailbroke my PS3 last night using minimus! Easy as pie!

                        The only problem I had was with the blackbox ftp server...

                        Im using 1.0 version. Took me about 2 hours last night to finally get it to work. I had originally installed the 1.1b NEW version BUT when I loaded it up on the ps3 it simply went blank and then went back to XMB screen. This was tried using disc and without disc. I had only put the PKG file on the usb stick though. Do you need the 'sfv' file too to get it working?

                        I gave up and installed 1.0 but DID leave the sfv file on the usb stick as well as the pkg. file as well though...

                              p.s. what games have you tested? have you load them onto a external hard-drive?
