Hey guys, I ordered a minimus avr board today. I wanna get ready for when it arrives,so a few noob ?s if its ok.

1/ Original disc's carry updates the same as the wii,yes, can these be blocked?
2/ I've read that you should only d/l jail break rips from the net for your ps3, where would a bloke find these ie ( reliable site ) ?
3/ Once you have the backup manager on your machine, I understand I need to use the minimus each time I want to rip a disc. But if I just wanna play a game off hdd, do I just load an original disc or do I need the minimus everytime I wanna play a game ?
Sorry for the ?s, but I have to learn sometime and I have been reading a bit too.

1. I believe these can be ripped out of the game, and are by the groups that release them. Not 100% though.
2. You can find them on torrents or newsgroups. You can rip your own games too, either off mates or from blockbuster or another rental shop.
3. You need to have it in, everytime you boot if you want to play a backup.

Mate its cool, no annoyance caused. TBH it helps me helping others, because then I learn myself if that makes sense at all.

Still aint got a PS3 myself yet, anyone got one going cheap?

Cheers janobi, I don't have a ps3 myself either, I'm gonna ~~~~ around with my nephew's one first . I had a look at that site with the software on it, has 4 options on it to d/load, I'm assuming it's the first one, I'll have to give you a shout when my minimus board arrives .

Right lads, with regard's to update's, I understand if I update above 3.4.1 the minmus board wont work. Now, if I update with a disc to play a new game,( above 3.4.1 ), this disables the hack.
1/ Does this do any harm to the ps3 software ?
2/ Do the hack file's stay on there, or does the update delete them?
3/ Once updated, can I still play new game's without problem's from the hack file's ?
Reason for all the ?s, is , I'm doing my nephew's ps3 and he's bricking it, wondering if the machine revert's back to it's former self once the hack is disabled.

If you go past 3.41 the hack will no longer work at all at the moment and there is no way to make it work again yet.

There is talk of rolling back the firmware to any version but that needs a 64 stick and the current PSGroove are all 32.

Like all these hacks it's cat and mouse now until Sony get fed up of trying.
