to answer your question about the games it does not matter about actual game size as long as there is no individual file size over 4gb... and for those theres a homebrew application comming which splits game files into smaller ones under 4gb so they can be recognised on the fat32 hard drives!! and about the hardrives... i heard there are issues with drives that hold over 1Tb but im not personally sure... if you want anymore info about hard drives or the application then ps3hax.net is a good place to start

good question, this was puzzling me too. just re-formated my ext hdd to make sure it works with my ps3. thanx shifty will check out ps3hax.net for more info. also just read u can transfer bigger files to ps3's int hdd via ftp, but is time consuming!

Ok let me get this clear... if i download a game worth 11gb and want to play this via an external hard-drive(FAT32), so how can i do this as any files sizes over 4GB cannot fit,

plus my internal drive is full already...

        What are my options?

got all the software and hex loaded perfect...

i just download a copy of prince of persia which is less that 4gb...

got the chip sorted with ... manager, but when i unzip the game it produces a folder and this is placed on the core usb drive... but it wont pick it up... what am i doing wrong...

the usb drive is fat32 and i have other folders which the ps3 picks up like movie, pics, music etc...

what should be the file structure?

Lads its not worth the hassle with the ext HDD. I have spent all week messing with it.
You can get a 500gb sata for ?42 and put that in your ps3.

Then you can use blackftp and your windows ftp software and ftp the game folder over to your ps3.

Will this work...1TB 1000GB GIG 3.5" SATA Hard Disk Drive Internal HDD on eBay (end time 02-Nov-10 10:58:59 GMT)

Its a 1TB SATA HDD, not sure if there was an upper limit on the ps3? With this I could store many games so would only have to buy once.
