Replacement hdd for ps3

I'm intent on getting my son a new hdd to replace his 40gb on his ps3. Can any of you chaps recommend a hdd. I was planning to buy the Western digital 640gb sata 2 5400 but i reading scary stories about it freezing among other things. Your advice would be greatfully appreciated . Thanks in advance.

I'm planning to buy jailbreak, how many games would would a 320gb hdd hold. Also if i was to go for a larger hdd would i be risking problems like freezing on ps3.
