Timing for getting the dongle active.

I was getting peaved at missing the timing between power and eject so I added this inside my PS3 so that if you touch the power button briefly it works as normal, if you hold the power button for about half a second it fakes the eject press and you boot with the dongle.

Works better with a FET and takes less current.

As the switches are touch switches they are very high impedance.

The "on" signal is a flip flop, when you touch the on pad the flip flop Q output changes from 0 to 5 volts.

Using that signal to drive through a resistor and charge up a capacitor will switch the transistor to a short circuit collector - emitter once the voltage across the cap has got high enough. This pulls the collector to 0 volts and that, when connected to the eject switch line, causes the eject signal.

I haven't put any values on there as it very much depends on the type of transistor and capacitor you use.

It's pretty easy to mess with the values and get it right as it beeps when it gets eject, you can set it to the right timing quite easily by changing the resistor values.

With a FET it all works fine with a 10 uf cap, and resistors around 300 k.

Its not ideal to use a 10 uF electrolytic as they leak a lot. A polyester or tantalum will work better but I didn't have any of the right value.

Do not blame me if you trash it

It should be possible to make the same sort of thing that clips on the outside but your detection circuit would be more complex, the advantage being that you don't need to break your seal and go inside.

at first I got timing wrong as well,

But i noticed that as soon as you press the on button, just press the eject button staright away and keep pressing it at a rate of about 2 per second, an so on untill the dongle lights stays on green,

        never failed me,

if you are skilled then go ahead with opening ps3 and messing with the touch buttons, i wud be pissed if they never worked again

I just press the on button then the eject and it works fine every time, just one press of each button

would be handy for 1 press method or mod as my 4yr has difficulty managing to press them at correct time
