Can I use any Backup software with my usbbreak?

I have recently acquired a usbbreak dongle and am awaiting delivery of my 3.41 ps3. What I wonder is with all the backup manager and ftp software available, do I have to use a certain one for my dongle. Im pretty sure it goes on a FAT32 formatted usb stick to install it onto the ps3 so I assume any is ok.

Also, does the usbbreak just contain the software to enter jailbreak mode? Or do I ever need to load software onto it?

The guy's in the know here, reckon you use the latest backup manager as it usually iron's out bug's from earlier version's. So, no particular one.
The dongle will just enable the hack, you need a second usb with the backup manager of your choice on it, to load to your ps3.

Ok, Ive heard all talk of Hermes and payloads and BM1.xx or 2.xx. Getting more and more confused.

Also game updates. I saw a thread on here mentioning the latest payload for game updates such as Tiger Woods and Pes 2011. Does this payload get loaded onto my own flash drive with Backup Manager or do I need to re-flash the JB dongle. My version is the usbbreak.com dongle. It doesnt appear to have an update button so could be a fakey. Not sure. And if I need to update files, how to I update a game without updating the firmware and disabling my JB method.

Just want to know which files to use so I can play the above 2 games when my PS3 arrives on Wednesday. Can anyone help?

My only concern is that because this is a usbbreak.com dongle and not a 'build your own' kind of thing, I will bodge up the dongle and not be able to use it for JB. Or do these payloads and hexes go on your own flsh drive with open manager? Sorry to sound thick!

If this is the one you have, it say's it's upgradable, probably best to use whatever software they suggest on their site, I have a minimus avr board, the hex goes on my board and the backup manager files go on another usb flash drive. That site has a FAQ section, check it out.

Thats the one, except mine doesnt appear to have the upgrade LED so maybe not a 'real' version. But I think it may be 1.0 and the newest revision on the site is 1.1.

Just had a quick look and it appears that if I click on the D/L section, and choose download Burner File V1.2, it starts to d/l Hermes V4 so maybe this is the one I should try and use. Assuming I use the Burner Tool to update, then instead of pressing the update button on the actual dongle, click Read Device and hopefully it will recognise that I have the JB dongle plugged in.

Do you agree with that? Ill try and play PES 2011 first before updating my dongle as the guy I bought it off showed me it working with FIFA 11 and PES 2011 so must be fairly up-to-date dongle wise.
