    PS3 3.41 UPDATE

I've tried to install 3.41 update on my young lads ps3, I've backed up his stuff unto external HDD,installed new internal hdd, now it is asking me to install over & above 2.60. I thought i had 3.41 loaded unto a memory stick but ps3 is saying it has Found no applicable software. I put his old 40gb hhd back into ps3 but i'm getting the same message (no opplicable software found). If i was to connect his ps3 to my router would i be able to choose 3.41 update or would i be stuck with the latest update, which i don't want, (jailbreak pending).I had a post telling me to install it on the root of memory stick, what does this mean & how is it done as i installed update directly unto memory stick. Hope i've given enough info. Thanks for replies.

If you connect ps3 to the internet to update it will download firmware version 3.50 - no choice to use older firmware.

Root of any drive just means not in a folder, zip or rar file, just put the file on the usb stick - it won't matter if there's other stuff on there the ps3 will only find the update (if it's in the right format)
    sigpic another happy customer

Plug in mem stick, navigate to mem stick open , click new folder in mem stick rename new folder PS3 ,Then double click PS3 folder, again click on new folder rename new folder UPDATE then drag your update software download to the update folder or download straight to the update folder . If the data is not saved in the correct way, the PS3™ system will not recognize the update data. The folder name must be in all uppercase letters. plug usb into ps3 , From the home menu, select (Settings) > (System Update), and then press the x button.
Select [Update via Storage Media], and then press the x button
The system automatically searches for and finds the update data saved on the storage media or USB device.

system update 3.50 is the latest now m8
