will a broken discs ps3 work for jailbreaking

The latest hex allow's you to jailbreak without the need for a disc in the drive, so I would imagine so m8.

cool so i might have to buy a broken one as i havent been able to find any ps3 with 3.41 or below on it anywhere know where i can get the orlder firmware ones?

I agree I snagged a nice like new slim 250GB for ?160 from a cash converters ask them to plug it up so you can check the firmware and make sure the original warranty sticker is in place because you don't wanna buy no flaky reflow that's going to die in a few months

yeah il check them out just been trying on gumtree but every1 i txt askin wat firmware is on telling me its the lastest.
is sony making pre September 2010 models updating?

On a fat ps3 the warranty sticker is stuck over a foot hiding a screw on the left end of the ps3 on a slim its on the bottom middle at the front, I would go for a slim as they are much more reliable....firmware 3.42 came out on September 6th 2010 so any ps3 manufactured before September must be 3.41 or below The date of manufacture is on the box.

Yeah you can update any ps3,What I was saying is 3.42 did not exist before September 2010 so if the ps3 was sitting in a box on a shelf in Currys before September it is 3.41 or below.
There is a payload that spoofs version to 3.50 and allows access to psn out at the moment but how long will that last!!!
I personally think in the long run loss of access to psn will be the price to pay for jailbroken ps3.....But I may be wrong!!! (won't be the 1st time)
