[Tutorial] How to play and install Backups with Kmeaw CFW+PSN without risk of brick | PS3Hax Network

Here's how to install there hack.

To play games, or back them up from a disk You'll need this installing too:
Gaia Manager v2.01 - PSX PS2 PS3 Scene Modchip, Jailbreak & CFW Community

(You wont need the lvl2.pkg thing if you use that backup manager, its got it built in)

Basically, you make sure your on the latest Firmware (3.55 only)

Then you boot the machine into Recovery mode.
(Power off... hold the powerbutton down. It'll bleep a few times then power off
Press the powerbutton and hold it again, but this time let go after the 2 bleeps)

When in recovery mode, you load the Modified firmware off a USB stick (put the PSUPDAT.PUP into a PS3/UPDATE folder on the USB stick.

it'll load it up, reboot and once your back into the PS3 game screen, there'll be 2 new options under GAME. Use the Install Package to install the Backup manager I linked before.

With that backup manager, you can backup game disks (or download them if you know hoe off the internet). And then load any game you pick later.

You can use External USB hard drives to keep the games on, but some do need to be ripped to the internal HDD. Not all, just a few.

black screens, crashes, dropping to XMB.

Modracers for instance just throws me an error.
bioshock 2 just dumps me to the xmb
lv1 dump winds up crashing if i dont lv2 patch first etc.

I was having the same problems at first I found that if i swapped out any of the eboots on my games for a modified one (to get GT5 running on 3.41 for instants) I had to swap it back to the original also deleting then reinstalling any game data (not saves) worked with some.
I am now up and running with no problems whats so ever
I have so far updated GT5 and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit no problems.

Guys, couple of noob questions if I may.

I have installed kmeaw 3.55 and the lvl 2 tool (cant remember which one right now) and also Rogero Manager

Where do I put the games on the hdd of the ps3 for rogero to pick them up?

If I get an external HDD for the ps3, where do I put the games on there so that Rogero can see them?

on external put the in a folder from root called GAMEZ with rogero mate i have 3/4's of mine running from external usb hdd and its awesome

i have fat ps3 which this s/n Model: CECHG03 [256MB NAND]


i have followed the tutorial of jail breaking it like this

1. install original sony 3.55
2. install cfw by Wutangrza 3.55 CFW
3. install geohots jail break

all successful.

try to install ipk packages but the folder for ipk packages under the game tab is not there.


i followed the tutorial by ChrisTechTV

but the ipk packages folder is not there.

can anyone please help.

ps3 still working fine.
