Third party controllers

I've got a thrid party controller that has stopped working after updating the FW to 3.55.

I didn't even know it was not a genuine one up until now :-/

Now, before I spend money on a genuine one I'd like to know is there a way to have it working again, maybe some patch or I was wondering if I jailbreak my 3.55FW will that help. Took me 4 days to search the net and I haven't found an answer. The closest I've got was that some third party controllers work others have been blocked by SONY... tell me sth I don't know :-D
