PSN Restored for Kmeaw CFW 3.55

Personally I haven?t tried this yet, but it seems promising? This comes from an anonymous fellow who is reporting success on connecting to PSN using PS3 Custom Firmware 3.55 by Kmeaw. So install that first and then follow these steps.

The following assumes you?re technically inclined and/or very resourceful, i.e. you know how to use Google. You?ll likely need to reference Google when it comes to generating/signing a certificate and creating a CA (certification authority). That said lets get started; here we?re using a combination of two tactics:

    1. DNS server trick: Set Primary DNS to 67.202.81.137 under Network Settings
    2. Simple SSL proxy that basically modifies the headers for outgoing packets to auth.np.ac.playstation.net?s to change ?PS3 03.55***8243; to ?PS3 03.56***8243; ? this makes PSN believe the PS3 is using the proper firmware version

Got it? Now here is how we accomplish tactic #2:

    1. Replacing a SSL cert in the CFW (in /dev_flash/data/cert) with your own CA SSL certificate
    2. Creating an SSL certificate for ?auth.np.ac.playstation.net? signed with your CA certificate
    3. Run a DNS server on your machine that resolves auth.np.ac.playstation.net to your PC?s internal IP
    4. Create a Java SSL proxy (basically PS3 <-> PC <-> PSN). The PC claims (to the PS3) that it is ?auth.np.ac.playstation.net? and is successfully accepted because a CA signed the SSL certificate
    5. Replace the headers sent PS3 -> PSN to specify ?PS3 03.56***8243;

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Yeah there's also Naima 3.55 CFW With PSN Support, I won't be surprised if more even easier ways to access psn turn up over the next few days.

Here's another way to get back on PSN (updated as of 2/15/11. No, I haven't tried this yet but will be tomorrow...maybe)

        -------------------------------------------------

You***8217;ll be shitting your pants when you realize how easy this really is***8230; Respect to drizzt for combining just about everything into one simple to use Windows executable: ****PSN.exe (now at v0.4) serves as a DNS and SSL Proxy server, leaving no complicated, ***8220;how do I***8230;***8221; configuration on your part. All the heavy lifting is done and here is what***8217;s left for you:

How to get back on PSN with 3.55 CFW

        1. Install jjolano***8217;s dev_blind and OpenPS3FTP on your hacked PS3
        2.Launch dev_blind so /dev_flash is now writable under /dev_blind
        3. Launch OpenPS3FTP and connect using an FTP client on your PC
        4. Browse to /dev_blind/data/cert
        5. Create a backup of the original ***8220;CA24.cer***8221; file
        6. Upload the new CA24.cer file from the PSN pack below
        7. Set your PS3***8242;s Primary DNS to your PC***8217;s IP address
        (where ****PSN.exe will be running)
        8. Set your PS3***8242;s Secondary DNS to your actual DNS server
        or simply use OpenDNS: 208.67.222.222
        9. Reboot your PS3
        10. Start ****PSN.exe on your PC
        11. Log into PSN!

Remember: Cheating online is lame. And Sony can likely detect who***8217;s who on PSN, meaning they *may* detect and ban your hacked console ***8230; or your PSN account. No reports of either yet.
