Xbox open tray

Had this for a while now,a load a game and it does not read the game.I read up on YouTube if you tap the box while insert game it works,well 2 months later and it's taking even longer to get the disc to load the other day I was messing around with it for 25 mins got it working,got a phone call and my mrs turned it off as she thought I was finished with it

Would I have to get a new xbox or can I just get a new disc drive?

New laser would do. Open the console and see what drive it is. Lasers range from ?6 -?12 new.

If replacing the drive you will have to extract the key from the firmware on the drive in order to flash onto replacement drive.

easy job pal most sellers of lasers will sell you a xbox opening kit in the price of a laser console is very easy to open with the rite tool laser replacement easy prob easier than opening the console it self

clean the laser with acetone b4 you buy a new one, see if that works! i fixed two of them doing this!
