    not reading ext hdd

    hello folks. my x box 360 is not reading my external portable hard drive. it is fat 32. this drive works perfect on ps3. any help

    Have you formatted it on the xbox?

    Limit on external on xbox is 32gb unless you have Jtagged console.

      well this is a new black 250 gb model. therefore please tell me will it read my portable 120 gb usb drive or do i have to buy a usb pen drive. thanks

        It will read it if you reformat it to 32gb through your xbox. Microsoft wont allow it to go any larger as it would impact on sales of their overpriced internal drives.

                  if you have it formatted in fat32 you can use it to play avis and music off it but you cannot install games and game saves unless you format part of it by the 360 which as already stated is 32 gig maximum.

                  Avis will play off it no problem as long as you have the codec installed from xbox live and are connected to xbox live while playing them.
