Swapping dvd drives

My brother bought a Xbox 360 pre owned from game last thursday which now has the e74 error, when he took it to bits he found out it had already had this error twice in a month.

Now the question is his mate has gave him one of his old flashed xbox's however the dvd drive in it is dodgey and we dont have the key for this one. would he be able to swap the dvd drives round from the one from game to the one his mate gave him?

OK pull the key from the mates console. Take the drive out off the e74 and spoof it if it not the same drive. Stick the goosed one in the e74 console flashed or not (still ejects) and return to game saying its broke.

the warrenty sticker has been peeled off the xbox with the e74 error..will this matter?

You said its preowned so say the sticker was never there.

when i took it to bits there was a sticker...but not a microsoft one...just a shitty one..i have put it back on and u cant really tell it has been removed like.do u think this would work if i just restored the origional firmware to the pre owned xbox with the error?

Be fine they have no way of testing the drive anyway as its rrod. Does a preowned console have warranty in game?

dunno about game but they deffo do in gamestation and its the same group now..so SHOULD do.

I think i have 30 days they said i could buy a years warrenty for ?25 anytime in the first month. But they said theyd repair it and if they couldnt they'd give me a new one. do you rekon id be ok taking it in flashed or i would be best putting origional firmware back on?

Do what you like they cant check it on the spot but orig firmware with key would be good. Depends on the drive.

Game usually check for the warrenty sticker. They offer a warrenty but cannot remember how long for. I took my old random rrod console to cash generators and they took it but checked it worked, did not check for warrenty sticker
