[Tut] how to recover lost dvd key due to new update.

credit does not go to me for this!

    hey guys.

As you know by now there has been a recent update which has caused alot of panic about when will we recieve the new LT+2.0 firmware and so on.

personally i reflashed my dvd drive to stock to do the update so i can go online without hassle and keep playing my legit games while experts sort the firmware out so just sit tight and it will be here soon.

if you have managed to do the update without keeping a copy of your dump or dvd key then you might want to know that jungle flasher does not read your dvd key when you have made a firmware dump after the update, so if you were panicing about how will you re-flash your drive without your dvd key dont worry because there is an ultra easy way to get it back after the update.

(i have only tested this for the benq drive but should work fine with other drives too.)

1.Firstly you will need to dump your updated firmware i would recommend using DOSflash.

2.Secondly once you have succesfully dumped your updated firmware, open it up in jungle flasher and you will see that your dvd key comes up with all zeros. (you can skip this step as its just to show you that jungle flasher will not provide the dvd key)

    3. you will need to download a Hex editor here is a Cygnus Hex Editor free edition.

Once that is downloaded open the program and go to file>open and open up the updated firmware that you have just dumped.

Now click the "Go to" tool which is in the toolbar.

Now in the search bar you will type the location of the dvd key which is different and different on different dvd drives :

for benq type it will be one of these locations:
    E030 - usually this one
E040 - or this one as its right underneath
    B030

type the location in the search box and press ok.

it will be in one of them, once found you will get this...

that is your dvd key. *important that you make a copy of this as this is vital for reflashing your xbox, copy and paste into notepad or something just dont loose it.

as of now i dont know specific locations for other drives but i will try to update this when i find them.

i hope this guides people towards finding there dvd key

i know this is not an in depth tut but should help people along the way to finding the dvd key.

any mistakes or invalid links let me know.

    thanks.
guys name is zznathaii, credit should go to him!

Or you could use an earlier version of JF and it will give you the correct key.

v0.1.67 is the one you need if you want to dump from new key location.

You should always have a copy of your dummy.bin and key, then this wont happen!

No mate, but on the 9504 drive gets updated, and I would guess that majority of people would of saved the drive key when dumping it.

liteon dg1 ( something) 7 series firm version, i flashed it about 2 years ago and something went wrong and it never ejected, the dvd key is recognised as 7777777777777 however i manged to get it into vendor mode and flash it this morning with lt+ firmware it now ejects and works just wont play games, i tried to update to the new dashboard and it wont accept update ( i was hoping that this new upate would flash my dvd back to all 00000000000's in the dvd key but because i cant install the update i fear im screwed)

The keys being all 77777777777s is not a good sign, we may be able to get the key from the original files though, as my man Cunny said.

I think its only hitachi 78/79s that can do ap2.5 checks. Not 100% though.

                              ?'s about DVD Key Retrieval

I have scoured the internet and have not been able to find a solution that works for me.

I bought an xbox 360 Slim 4gb that wont get past update screen with error 335a-351f-b380-0601-c000-001e. From the research I have done, it looks like the person who had the console flashed the drive so they could play copied games. I don't about about playing copied games, I just want to "flash" this xbox back to stock.

From what I am reading, to do this, I will need to have the original DVD Key which I don't have because I didn't even know this box was non-working when I bought it. I sent it to M$ to be repaired and they said it had been tampered with, so now I'm stuck with this non working box.

Is there a way to retrieve the DVD so I can reflash this console back to stock? besides the RGH? The Console was manufactured 2011-03-23. Lot number 1113X, has a Phillips LiteOn DG-16D4S firmware 0225. I dont know the kernal number or any other information because I cant even log into the dashboard, it is just stuck at the applying update screen and then flashed the above mentioned error code.

                              Thank you for any help.
