New System Update 19th July 2011 ***8211; New Ap2.5 Data


So yet again, we have another mandatory system update from microsoft and once again some people will face new problems.

1. All LT+1.1 and older users will get errors when updating to this new dashboard.
(i)Users on Slim LT+1.1 will not be able to reflash their xbox after this update SO PLEASE DO NOT UPDATE YOUR CONSOLE.
(ii) Phat LT+ 1.1 users will be able to reflash their xbox even if they get errors after updating to this firmware.

2. Lt+ 1.9 users can safely update their consoles but after the update, they wont be able to play Ap2.5 games. The current ap2.5 game list includes
(i) Assassins Creed Brotherhood
(ii) Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
(iii) Call of Duty Black Ops
( iv) Fable 3
(v) Need for Speed Hot Pursuit

SOLUTIONS:

1. All users running LT+1.9 should/can update their consoles and wait for new ap2.5 data by the abgx team. For you, this update will only affect the above 5 games and everything else will work fine.
(i) Some people on LT+1.9 might get an error while updating but a simple reflash will solve this. To reflash, first flash your xbox to stock firmware, connect to xbox live and update to the 19th july firmware, and then flash the console to LT+ 1.9

2. All users running LT+1.1 and older firmwares; this is the time to update your consoles to Lt+ 1.9. YOU CAN NOT remain on older firmwares anymore because microsoft is releasing new system updates very quickly. So to be safe, flash your consoles now.

3. Last but not the least, i have seen 2 people who got banned by microsoft after updating to this firmware. This could be bad luck or anything, so i am still not sure what will happen exactly. So you still might not be safe even if you are running LT+1.9

If you are unsure about what will happen to your console, THEN PLEASE, do not go online with your console and DO NOT update it. If you dont update, you will still be able to play all games released before today.

So, am I right in saying that post the latest system upadte all slim boxes cannot now be flashed by conventional methods? As I see it the only way to flash these boxes is with the replacement PCB, is this correct?

No, there is a new unlocking method that can work on these drives, it works with DG-16D4S MXIC chipset. Winbond bit hit and miss atm but they are working on it.

got Lt 1.9 already, have not excepted July update. but i want to use the kinect, i do not use the console on line at all, but i need to update to use the kinect. is there any way i can use the kinect without the update?

Can you not use the Kinect Advebtures game for this? I updated mine through XBL after the Dash update

Some users were reporting a error code when doing this. I returned boxes to stock prior update, but chioce is yours

By look of things, its going to be more than a ABGX update. More likely another new CFW. Over 140 challenges were found.

a family friend has a kinect, but does not have Internet access to their home. they live too far away for me to update kinect.
How do you use kinect adventures to update kinect? they have tried playing the game but ,update message, keeps coming up and the red light on the kinect stops on and doesn't work. the message does not have a cancel option to by-pass the update.

Give m$ a call. Maybe they can provide a link to a download you can place on usb/disk and post it to them

You could try updating while kinect it connected to the xbox.

The other option would be for your friend to bring the xbox to you to do it over the internet.

any advice is good advice..

my thought is MS is wrong in not letting their customers know that xbox live is a must!!! to keep the kinect updated and working... but then again ,clever, in getting as much cash of us as possible.....

may just email MS to give them my feedback, but then again i'm no one to them....

I'm not sure if the updates for kinect are included. Ring xbox and ask them. If it is just download the update

cunny this seems like its all getting a bit complicated, i dont play anything online at all and im running 1.6 i think, but ive not burned a game since modern warfare 3 and not updeted the dash for donkeys will i be ok.
