gears of war

Hi folks . any ideas's on this one ?
I have a 360 premium with 20gig drive that plays backups (not sure what's been done to it as bought it off a friend with no clue )
I have the original disk for gow 1 and a back up, both of which used to play , I then had to update my system before playing assassins creed (i think it was) following this neither the back up or original of gow 1 will play says please place this disk in an xbox 360.
gears of war 2 plays fine however as do all my other disks and back ups , just not gow 1 . I have no clue as to why

any ideas would be appreciated.

That's crazy, I've had a similar probably with my own personal system that was modded also..but not with the same game...mine with with the Rainbow 6 Vegas Series...

Try it without the hard drive connected also I would suggest finding out what drive and firmware you have from your friend.
