Xbox 360 controllers on pc, wireless or wired?

Hi there, Just a quick question about Xbox 360 controllers on pc.

Do all controllers work for pc, regardless whether they are wireless or wired? Because I read something about needing a receiver for wireless controllers... If I do need some sort of receiver, will I need to buy that seperately from the controller, or do they come with one?

As far as I'm aware none of them work on the pc. Although with the wired one you can modify it to work on the pc but then it's no good for the Xbox. You can however buy pc controllers that look like Xbox controllers. I could be wrong with this so youay want to check further
