xbox wont see hard drive that was originally in it

hi all i have a xbox 360 250gb and i pulled the hd out last night thinking i could connect it to ma laptop via a sata to usb cable i have to put films and music onto it laptop didnt see it so plugged it back into the xbox and it doesnt see it either?

Probably need re formatting, you need to download an app to see the contect on the hdd, cant remember the name but sure another member will help out on this 1.
