making lots of coasters with my lite-on help please

    hi all

just flashed an old xbox360 hitachi 47 drive that i got for my lad with LT2
got a pre-flashed lite on 124b from ebay to write discs
followed guides on how to download/write, using xbgx imageburn, but keep getting unrecognized disc error in xbox
i have burnt 2 games with my old pioneer f/street, & golf 13, both of these work ok,
the ones i burnt with lite on 124B all come up unrecognized disc,
i've tweeked laser pot from 3.4 to 3.1, made a slight differences in that it see's something on copied ssx disc
    any tips please,
be easy with me as i'm an old dinosaurs ( both old and dinosaur are true)

I had the exact same issue recently with a 47dj. I just replaced the laser and it worked first time

      thanks
i've taken some discs to work to see if anyone has flashed xbox and get them to try the discs i made to see that they work
if its a laser change i may look at getting another drive to replace hitachi,
      any thoughts

just replace the laser or change drive for the same make / model.
to make sure the disk is good: download kprobe2 from here
Kprobe Liteon Burn Quality Testing Tool - Team Xecuter
the results should be like this or better to be a good burn,
XGD3 Quality Test Guidelines - Team Xecuter

if it passes the test it will be a dodgy laser.

laser picked up another disc yesterday
i've attached a usb hdd and installed the games on there
thinking i may just try to tweek laser down to 2.9 ohms and see what that does
if i need to change the laser anyway can't do that much damage
think with my old eyes maybe better to buy new dvd drive instead of trying to fit a laser
as its an old hitachi 47 need to cvheck what i can replace it with

This is the laser I purchased

Hitachi / Samsung Laser SF-HD63 *NEW* - ModTraders.co.uk (but check yours model number is on the laser itself)

Check though on the model number. POT Tweaking does not always work with lasers. I have tried a few only only ever seen marginally better reading.

If you purchase a new laser just remember to remove the anti static points on the laser duriing instalation

              thanks for the link

i'm thinking its easier to get a new drive, for another ?15 i don't have the worry of striping and rebuilding old drive
5 yrs ago i would have done it, but now need a magifing glass to see these little wires and solder points

You cant replace a hitachi with liteon, this is called spoofing and its no good anymore. The anti static points are easy enough to see and remove. Take about 30 seconds with a soldering iron. Here's a tut

Also did the backups work in another xbox?
