swap a lite-on for benq?
Hi guys, I have a Lite-on DG-16D2S drive of a friends which is not reading discs no more, the laser has been changed twice now and after 3 months the problem has occured once again. I have a benq drive lying about and was wondering is it possible for me to swap the drives over? I know I can just buy a new laser or buy a new drive but seeing as both drives are "phillips" is this possible to be done?

In simple terms...NO
The osig will be different and detectable on newer dashboards. Either replace laser (they should be swappable between liteon an benq) or replace the whole drive.
As this has happened before, your not upping the POT are you? Using shite media?sigpic
