You can check which error code it is if it red lights again and also say if it's a 360 or slim. But check all cables etc are pushed home.FAQ: Xbox 360 Error Codes Explained - Scenyx Entertainment Community

i think the error code was e74 or something, its an old 360 elite about 5-6 yrs old, but like i said, it seems to be ok now, god forbid it stops working, ive got an irate 12 yr old with itchy trigger fingers,

E74 is same as rrod as in warrenty. As yours is out of warrenty you could either get rid before it goes all together or when it does go try a xclamp fix

As Cunny says see if you can trade it in if your not keen on rrod fix. Better to do it while it's working.

Before you even try to do the xclamp fix have you thought about getting it reflowed, I would try that first because a xclamp fix does not always work, by overheating your board you can cause more damage, I wouldn't advise using a heatgun as well because they are not sheilded from electro-static discharge, you would need something like a Aoyue 968 Rework station like I have.

Try to see if anyone in your area or as near to you is doing reflows and reballs, if they are find out what equipment they use, or see if a friend can recommend one, it's better than messing it up, will probably be about ?20+, if you go down that route ask question's they wont mind just say your concerned because it's your baby .

            Hope this help's you.

Might be worth pushing your luck and calling the microsoft customer helpline.

They now offer a three year warranty. I purchased xbox end of April and HDD is already en route to Germany as of lunchtime today error codes E69 and E70.

You could claim the fault is 'inherent' and this is a known problem with their product and therefore not a fault cause by misuse or negligence.

You have up to six years in England, five in Scotland, to claim for inherent faults.
