Changing PCB in hitachi DVD drive

just seen a video on youtube, where guy takes the PCB from one xbox dvd drive, and puts it into another driv, then uses this drive in xbox,(instead of reading/flashing key)
anyone tried this with an hitachi drive ?

Yep. Its just a case of swapping the PCB over however the drive key would have to match the motherboard. So the original PCB in theory can go in another drive housing as long as key and osig match
