ok guys heres the problem......

i got an xbox360 chipped for my kids 3 yrs after a year it got banned from xbox live.is this xbox of any use to me even just for playing games off line.ive tried to play a normal game in it and it ask for me to download a update this is where i get stuck.is there anyway to get round this or should i just bin the xbox and not bother......

Depends on drive and dashboard

If dash board is before 2.0.13146.0 (check here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_system_software) and is a drive that get flashed (BenQ Liteon Samsung) then i would get it returned to stock and updated.

Can i ask where abouts in Yorkshire you are? There are also local installers who will do this for you but its not worth binning as 20 mins work can get this sorted and flashed to latest fw for you

I'm over in bradford buddy and could do what you need doing. But first check drive and dashboard version see if it needs it

ok buddy just bear with me on this as its all new to me ....without stripping it down how would i find out what i need to know

Dasboard is found by going to console settings on the console



thats how to see drive you have without stripping the xbox

right buddy the dashboard reads: d:2.0.9199.0

and ive looked under the cover on the front and the cable is a yellow one if this helps........

If you have access to another XBox plug your HDD into it and perform the update. Then return the HDD to your chipped box and play.

Flash to stock pre 13146.0
Update dashboard to latest
Flash back to LT3

right guys thanks for all your help but 1st i think i need to get a hardrive for it i can get a 60gig for ?10 then i can take it to the next step.....
is that all i need or do i need a kit or obviously i will need to download software tp do this.....

now ive got a hdd in pluggued into my sons upstairs something happened with the updates as now everytime i turn on the xbxox i get this error status code 23ef-3cd6-b800-0f00-c000-0013

cant read the update from disc.please reinstall the disc to continue the update
if the problem persisist visit Welcome to Xbox Support - Xbox.com

which is where they tell you to download the updates and either put it on a usb stick or a disc and do the updates from there and i still cant get it to do it.....

any suggestions buddys before it goes in the bin
