    dead slim dvd drive ?

HI everyone, ive recently bought 2nd hand slim console which was sold as faulty, ( dvd drive not opening) but I think the drive is dead - there is no response when inside console and drive not detected in jungle flasher with usbpro , drive is labelled as 9504, ( usbpro and pc are operating fine as I have tried another drive to make sure) there are no red rings but an error code does come onto the screen when I tried to update with various official updates vis usb dive, the question is - what are my options for obtaining the drive key or original firmware from the dead drive ? ps, I have a spare xkey which I believe I can use on this console if I can get the drive key. thanks

RGH it. Obtain drive key from that. Have a look at the PCB of the drive. Esp the spi and make sure no holes in it

yeah I thought maybe rgh, the chip is clean , I was having a look at the cool runner and associated stuff for getting the key but I wasn't sure if this was the proper and only way.

If the drive is dead and no other ways of obtaining key then its either send it someone to look over drive or RGH obtain key from xell

A note tho if its been on a latest dash then a DGX will be needed

its on an older dash, not sure which one - I tried to update using the same dash update but it just threw an error up - and the same with various other updates, so I will maybe have a closer look into the RGH and maybe have a go at it. thanks for your help cunny.

If you RGH it then i would just load freeboot and not bother with another drive and ftp your games over to the HDD or USB HDD

That sounds like a good idea , and I wouldn't have to use the spare xkey I have either. Just 1 question - what all do I need to do the RGH ?

Qsbs to suit motherboard. Coolrunner again dependant on motherboard and dash. A reader like a jrunner programmer.

Alternately. Take it someone who does the installs
