the old phat version is what i got as firmware is done 1st before the slims and you dont need replacement pcb to flash the old phat ones saves money but the choice is yours. check out c4eva on google for firmware updates as that is main place to find out about what latest firmware is

thanks for heads up i'll check it out, I'd prefer a slim but there seems alot more involved, I think I'll keep my eye out for a already modded phat version, cheers

You can get slims dopne as low as ?25 but you be lucky to have the mcix chipset or if you kno someone really good at kamakize hack if you got a winbond

If you want a slim, get 1 pre modded or you could be waiting for LTU and a replacement PCB

It seems a better & cheaper option as said to get one pre modded, I've been offered a couple:- a brand new 4gb slim RGH the drive isn't flashable yet or a Slim dual nand with the demon tx installed & flashed drive, which would be the better of the two?thanks

dual nand with demon would obviously be better.

if it's rgh, i don't see much benefit in flashing the drive if you're keeping it in that xbox. of course you would flash the drive anyway while doing the rgh, but you won't really use it much... unless you have big stack of backup dvd's. best to stick everything on a hdd and run it of there.

dual nand is useful if you intend on using xbox live. if you're not going to be using live or buying the gold subscription, not much use in it.

also it would dend on how much it costs. how much for just the 4gb rgh?

I'm running a demon phat box and have returned the drive back to stock for reason I cannot be bothered flashing to stock on each retail update.

You also have the option of link in fsd that is a new multiplayer option.

Rgh opens up so many new avenues of homebrew and other options

The 4gb slim RGH he said is brand new & the drive cannot be flashed yet 150, & for the slim with dual nand 200,
If Its easy enough to put everything onto a hd like you say there doesn't seem any point in using the drive & having to update everytime, Live access isn't essential as we can use the ps3 online, I've checked out the link in fsd you mentioned which sounds a good alternative
