    replacing a dg16d4s drive

hi all, a friend has asked me to replace the drive in his slim as its not reading disc's. gonna try the laser first but he just wants a new drive. am i right in thinking that i can just de-solder and swap the pcb from the old drive and re-solder in to the new one. also just want conformation that this is the right drive.

Should work if its the exact same drive. Is it the liteon 0225?]

Also make sure it's unlocked. If the pcb is locked then it will need unlocking to insert fir.ware and drive key

its a 9504 drive so order this one 9504

i did change the laser today but it came up unreognized disc for games but did play a dvd. when it did see the games it would just return to the dashboard when you try to start the game.

cunny, i'm not flashing it. just gonna swap the pcb's. so that should still work?

Yes it will but I would see what firmware is on the drive and check your games with abgx. Getting booted back to dash is a sign of ap2.5 failure

Have you checked to which spi is on the board. Could be an easy unlock an sell on
