hi guys, need hepl help help,, gor my son an xbox elite for xmas been ok up to a couple of days ago when it started to go wieard, ie,, colour started to go funny then day after it took ages to start now today he turned it on and nothing, when i say nothing its sayin system error conntact xbox customer support, he says his remote is ok but the box switch is showing a quater red light were it should all be green, does anyone know wot this is??,,any help would be great..cheers..c..

Is there an error code. Any red lights or code on screen.

hi m8,, its showing quater red light on box switch as for error code i will check tomoz and let u know.cheers..c..

I'd also check see if there any sign if the console been opened before there should be a security sticker under the face plate and see if there any damage on the back where the console case joins together

At a guess e74 or e68. If bought from a shop hope u still got the receipt

hi m8, yes it says e 74 on screen as for sticker on bottom its missing and the box seems like its been taken apart before, but does,ant matter ive got receipt so shop here we come ..cheers..c.

Well I'd be suspicious if it's not had a rrod repair. Take it back to where u got it from.

Or a strip down rrod repair or reflow/reball

E74: I/O Hardware Error - HSIO related, could be crc error, or many things: There is high chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip near the AV cable connection) it can also be caused by a faulty AV cable so check that first. Microsoft covers this error under their 3-year warranty, this is availble to anyone who hasn't modified their console. contact MS to get a free replacement console before attempting to fix this yourself. Failing that this error In some cases it is a problem with the GPU and may be repairable by doing the x-clamp replacement

update,, thanx guys all sorted now, took it back to shop and they changed it for another one, reason for problam (ring of death) wotever that mean's...c
